Keep Your House Clean and Safe during VacationIf you are spending the holidays out of town for more than a week, there are few things that you should do to keep your home in tip-top condition while you are away. One of those things is to clean up the whole house so that on the day of your return you do not have to deal with the mess you left. To begin with this task, purge your refrigerator and pantry of any food item that easily gets spoiled or rotten. Meat, vegetable and fruits are some of those. You can consume them before you left for your holiday trip, or toss them to the trash or give them to your neighbours. Your refrigerator must be unplugged, defrosted, cleaned, and dried prior to your flight. This will make it convenient for you to refill it again with fresh supplies upon your return. When you are done with the pantry and refrigerator, you can then move to the trash. Gather all you trash bags, throw them to the garbage bin, and bring the bin to the curb for garbage collection. Also, scan your patio, deck or yard for any outdoor furnishing or item that you might have left. Bring them indoor if you do not trust that they will still be there when you return from your holiday. Most important, secure all flammable materials including newspapers, paints, varnishes, cleaning liquid, etc. Disconnect all appliances and shut off gas to avoid fire accident. Doing these things will help you get the rest that you really want and the holiday enjoyment and complete peace of mind that you deserve. |
